Press Release
Newnan, August 27, 2007 - for immediate release
Grenzebach
Corporation, headquartered in Newnan, GA delivered its’ first fully
automated architectural glass coating line at a major US manufacturer.
The new production line is a major achievement to meet the challenges of high performance coated glass production. The coating process and the coatings themselves are very sensitive to contamination and handling damage. Great care must be exercised in all phases of handling and transport of the glass to insure high production yields.
The new production line features 100% automated cutting, transport and stacking operations. During production the coated surface of the glass will never be touched, before or after the coating is applied. The
in-line cutting feature with automated break out enables the company to
optimize coater performance by running stock sizes and to respond to
the ever increasing demand for customized glass sizes. The integration
of process buffers and accumulators accommodate interruptions in coater
operation and ensure consistent speed and superior quality.
“Glass
is not just glass anymore, with the help of advanced coatings glass has
become specialized” comments Stefan Grenzebach, CEO and President.
“Coatings can now be tuned to let only desired portions of the light
spectrum to pass through, coatings can be designed to be self cleaning,
anti-reflective coatings can be used to maximize the reception
efficiencies of photovoltaic cells.”
Advanced coatings are the
most promising trend in the modern glass industry and will be its most
important driver for the industry’s future growth. For example;
according to industry sources, dedicated new float lines are currently
being planned to provide glass to the emerging thin film photovoltaic
market.
Utilizing the vast experience Grenzebach has gained in
installing such lines in Europe and Asia enables the firm to now
deliver state of the art solutions for coated glass producers around
the world. Grenzebach automated glass handling solutions, first
developed for large float glass producers, are being used today by
glass manufacturers of all sizes, and operations like coating, high
speed tempering, laminating, auto glass and other glass fabrications.
