Coweta County Development Authority is a Constitutional Authority established by an amendment to the Georgia State Constitution. As such it has a broad range of powers as spelled out in the amendment. The Authority consists of an all volunteer five member board, appointed by the County Commissioners. These five board members also serve on a Statutory Authority, The Development Authority of Coweta County, which has two additional members also appointed by the County Commissioners.

For most of its history, the Coweta County Development Authority’s activities consisted primarily of providing low-cost Industrial Bond financing for new or expanding industries. In 2003, The Coweta County Commissioners charged Coweta County Development Authority with the primary responsibility for Coweta County Economic Development. Authority activities are accomplished via an annual operating budget funded by the County. Additional program funds are anticipated via bond financing fees, grants and possibly local option sales tax revenues.

Coweta County Development Authority owns, and the County manages, operates and markets the Shenandoah and Creekside Industrial Parks. We provide services to structure economic development and assist in many phases of the development process. The Authority cooperates with local, regional and state agencies in its efforts to promote business expansion and/or relocation to Coweta County. Business and industry clients and prospects receive assistance in many areas, including, but certainly not limited to the following:

• Low-cost bond financing
• Developed industrial sites
• Available industrial buildings
• Ad Valorem tax liability
• Government permitting/Approval process
• Temporary office space

Board meetings are held monthly, generally on the first Thursday at 9:00 a.m. at the Authority office.
